Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before your visit. If you have a question that isn't answered here, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
For most aesthetic treatments at Madog Sba, an initial consultation is recommended so we can understand your goals and ensure the treatment is right for you. For some treatments — such as anti-wrinkle injections — the consultation is included free of charge. For others, a small consultation fee applies, which is redeemable against treatment. You're never under any obligation to proceed.
All treatments at Madog Sba are delivered by qualified, experienced practitioners. Our founder, Betsan Emlyn, is a Registered Nurse with over 24 years of clinical experience. Visiting practitioners — including our physiotherapist Johan — are independently qualified in their respective fields.
Yes. Betsan Emlyn is registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and is a member of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN). All aesthetic treatments are carried out under comprehensive cosmetic insurance, and the clinic operates to the highest standards of clinical safety.
You can book online via our booking system at any time, or call us on 07979 597712 during clinic hours. We're open Monday to Saturday, 08:00–18:00, with evening appointments available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays until 20:00.
Anti-wrinkle injections work by temporarily relaxing the muscles that cause expression lines — such as frown lines, forehead lines, and crow's feet. Dermal fillers, on the other hand, add volume and definition to areas such as the lips, cheeks, and jawline. The two treatments can be used independently or in combination, depending on your goals. We'll always discuss which option is most appropriate for you at consultation.
Comfort levels vary depending on the treatment and the individual. Injectable treatments may involve a brief, mild sensation, and topical numbing cream is available where appropriate. Treatments such as microneedling and chemical peels are designed to be well-tolerated, and your practitioner will talk you through what to expect before you begin.
This depends on the treatment. Anti-wrinkle injections typically last 3–4 months. Dermal fillers can last anywhere from 6 to 18 months depending on the product and area treated. Skin booster treatments and PRP are usually recommended as a course for best results. Your practitioner will give you a realistic expectation at your consultation.
Wellness injections such as NAD+ and vitamin infusions are administered directly into the body to support energy, recovery, and overall wellbeing. NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) is a coenzyme that plays a key role in cellular energy production. Vitamin injections — such as B12 or vitamin blends — are used to address deficiencies and support vitality. These are delivered by our qualified nursing team.

Yes, it is the safest and most effective method of wax removal. With micro-suction there is no water involved so even people with a perforated ear drum can have the procedure.
This is not essential but the use of olive oil before an appointment can help to soften hard wax and make removal quicker. Olive oil spray can also be used during the procedure if necessary.
This method of wax removal is unlikely to be painful. The only issue people notice is the sound of the machine which can be loud but is quick to become accustomed to.

No referral is needed. You can book an appointment with Katie directly via the booking app.
Our podiatrist treats a wide range of conditions including: ingrown toenails, corns and calluses, fungal nail infections, verrucas, musculoskeletal foot pain (including heel pain and plantar fasciitis, flat feet, sports injuries, arthritic pain, Achilles and other tendon issues), and diabetic foot care.
Please bring a list of any medications, your relevant medical history, and your regular footwear. If you have a specific foot problem, bring any orthotics or insoles you currently use.
Yes, we provide detailed biomechanical assessments and custom 3D-printed orthotics designed to relieve pain, balance foot pressure, and improve mobility.
Most treatments are painless or cause only mild discomfort. Katie prioritizes your comfort and will work with you to ease any nervousness.
We adhere to strict hygiene and infection control protocols to ensure your safety. Please contact us if you have any symptoms of illness before attending your appointment.
During your first visit, Katie will assess your foot and overall health and provide a diagnosis. Simple conditions like corns, calluses, and verrucas are often treated on the same day. More complex issues may require follow-up appointments.
Recommended for musculoskeletal foot pain lasting more than six weeks, this assessment involves a detailed history, physical examination (sitting, lying, standing), and observation of walking or running. Tests may include muscle, tendon, ligament, and nerve evaluations, video analysis of movement, and pressure mapping.
Podiatrists generally have more advanced training than chiropodists. While chiropodists typically manage corns and hard skin, podiatrists can perform minor surgeries and administer local anesthetics and injections.
